BOYCEVILLE — The Boyce-ville High School class of 2019 has seven honor students. Valedictorian Jaden Reisimer and salutatorian Mark Timper are featured in a separate story. Below are the five other honor students.
Sarah Kapsner
Sarah is the daughter of Chris and Molly.
1. List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? AP Environmental, Psychology, and Anatomy because they showed me my interests.
2. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Go down to Lakeside Lab with all my friends and finding out science and learning can be fun.
3. Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? NHS (11, 12), Student Council (9-12), Class Officer (9-12), VA (10-12), Spanish Club (9-12) and Science Olympiad (9-12). SO was my favorite because I got the chance to study a lot of different science.
4. What are your plans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? Working at the Grain Bin!
5. Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so, where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests right now? UW-Madison with a major in Environmental Science.
Dylan McNew
Dylan is the son of Keith and Diane McNew.
1. List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? AP environmental: Because it opened my eyes to the things people do to our planet. Calculus: Because it’s preparing me for college. Physiology and Anatomy: Because I liked learning about the body.
2. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Paintballing and bonfires with my friends.
3. Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Wrestling – 3, Football – 3, track – 2. Wrestling was my favorite because it made everything else in life easy.
4. What are your plans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I’m going to keep my job at Arby’s and do a lot of fishing before I attend CVTC in August.
5. Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so, where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests right now? I’m going to attend the software development program at CVTC.
Seth Wruck
Seth is the son of Aleasha Wruck and Chris Wruck.
1. List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Math Class, wood working, phy ed. I liked math because I was good at it while wood working was hands on and phy ed was a fun cool down time.
2. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Playing in my last ever varsity basketball game and scoring.
3. Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? FFA (4 years), NHS (2 years), Basketball (4 years), and Baseball (1 year). My favorite has to be Basketball because I enjoyed it the most and have been playing since 3rd grade.
4. What are your plans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? Work for the village to keep my summer a little free before I start my life off.
5. Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so, where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests right now? I will be going into the trades in brick masoning in the union.
Brock Schlough
Brock is the son of Chad and Julie Schlough.
1. List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? 1 . A.P. Environmental Science, because were able to get out of the classroom a lot and work directly with what were studying. I also enjoyed that the class was about protecting the environment which is something that I am passionate about.
2. Gym, due to the fact that we are able to run around and get a break from sitting all day.
3. Woodworking was fun because I was able to look at the work that I did afterwards and take pride in it.
2. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable?
Winning the state tournament in wrestling. This showed me what it was like to set a goal, stick to it, and accomplish it.
3. Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why?
Wrestling, 4 years. Track, 1 year. Jr. Achievement 1 year.
Wrestling was my favorite because it was fun and challenged me more than anything else.
4. What are your plans for this summer after graduation? Summer Job?
Plan to get a job working construction, wrestle, and fish.
5. Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so, where? What will be your major? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests right now?
I plan to attend St. Cloud State University studying construction management as my major.
Jaida Peterson
Jaida is the daughter of Grant and Keri Peterson.
1. List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes?
-Physiology and Anatomy was one of my favorite classes because my teacher, Mrs. Willi, gave us many great experiences and prepared me well for college.
-Work Study at the elementary schools: I love spending time with the kindergartners. They are always happy and brighten my day.
-Civics: Mr. Engel made civics interesting with his lectures. He expected a lot of his students and brings out the best in us.
2. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable?
Some of my favorite memories in high school were participating in many clubs and sports. I made a lot of friends and we had a lot of fun together. These are times I won’t forget.
3. Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why?
Community Service and Involvement:
• Organized and guided Class of 2019 fundraisers, planned homecoming activities, and school dances as Class President, 2015-present
• Volunteer volleyball coach for Boyceville Youth Volleyball, 2015-present
• Bulldog Booster Club concessions stand worker, 2013-present
• Referee/scorekeeper for youth volleyball tournaments, 2015-present
• Interacted with residents while volunteering at local nursing homes
• Kindergarten Classroom Volunteer, 2019
• Volunteered in first grade classrooms, teaching lessons about healthy lifestyles and friendship/bullying, 2017-2018
• Volunteered at Boyceville’s Pickle Fest to raise funds for two local clubs

Student Council because I’ve had the opportunity to help plan student body activities, like dances and homecoming events.
Volleyball was my favorite sport in high school and I will miss competing as a Bulldog.
4. What are your plans for this summer after graduation? Summer Job?
I’ll be nannying and plan to get another part-time job to save money for college. I’m looking forward to a relaxing summer with my friends and family.

I will be attending Minnesota State University, Manko. I’ll be majoring in either Dietetics, Elementary Education, or Nursing.
