BOYCEVILLE — Sometimes, teams do not mind playing in the rain, other times they do.
It took until the end of the fourth inning of the Bulldogs’ and Hilltoppers’ softball game at Boyceville April 25 before it was decided to suspend the game until the weather was better and there was less chance for players to injure themselves.
The score was 8-5 with Boyceville on top when officials and coaches decided to suspend the game. The remaining innings will be played prior to the May 16 Bulldog and Topper matchup at Glenwood City.

The Hilltoppers got on the board first in the game when Brooke Wickman batted junior Jenesa Klinger home to make the score 1-0. Glenwood City scored two more times in the second inning with another run from Klinger and one from Brianna Barstad.
Boyceville tacked up four runs in the bottom of the second after McKenna Weber drilled the ball over the left-center fence for a home run that drove in Marissa Dormanen after a Hilltopper fielding error left her safe at third base.
Tori Kostman and Brooklyn Hellmann would also score in the second, making the score 4-3 in favor of the Bulldogs as both teams headed into the third.
Glenwood City coach Pete Gaustad sent five batters to face Boyceville’s freshman pitcher, Tyra Kostman, but could not get any runners past third base before taking a third out and letting the Bulldogs have a turn at bat.

Lady Bulldogs Morgan Kuhn and Amber Retzloff were sent home for the last two runs for Boyceville before the game was called at 8-5.
