BOYCEVILLE — Ten schools competed at the Boyceville track and field invite last Thursday, April 25 with Turtle Lake/Clayton winning the girls’ and Elk Mound winning the boys’ competitions. The Hilltopper boys took second with 87 points narrowly beating the Bulldogs who scored 86.33. In the girls competition, Boyceville took seventh place with 57 points and the Glenwood girls came in tenth with a score of 40.
Glenwood City Boys
The Hilltopper boys had two relay teams that finished in first place. In the 4×400 relay, Ilan Anderson, Brady Thompson, Justin Rogers and Elliot Springborn ran the race in 3 minutes 38.40 seconds and in the 4×800, Clayton Hoffman, Tyler Rogers, Garrett Gross and Justin Rogers won with a time of 9 minutes and 21.95 seconds.
Sophomore Brady Thompson went on to also place first in the 400 meter run with a time of 51.52 seconds and third in the 100 meter dash in 11.59 seconds.
Earning second place were sophomore Clayton Hoffman in the mile run with a time of 4:59.19 and senior Conner Gross in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet 2.5 inches. Senior Tucker Augeson also threw well in the event with a toss of 39 feet 3.5 inches which was good for third place. He also placed eighth in discus with a throw of 107 feet and 5 inches.
In the pole vault, senior William Standaert cleared 8 feet which earned him fourth place. Freshman Eli Oberle ran a 5:15.89 mile and sophomore Garrett Gross ran the two mile in 11:47.71 both won fourth place.
Junior Elliott Springborn earned some points with a fifth place finish in high jump, leaping 5 feet 4 inches. He also placed sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.59 seconds. Other sixth-place finishers included juniors Tyler Rogers in the pole vault coming in at 8 feet and Ilan Anderson in long jump with a jump of 17 feet 8 inches.

Boyceville Boys
Two competitors on the team placed first. They were freshman Liam Moore-Girard in discus with a throw of 127 feet and senior Caden Wold in the long jump with a jump of 21 feet 2 inches.
There were a number of second-place finishers including Caden Wold in the 100 meter dash and triple jump. He ran the 100 in 11.29 seconds and jumped 39 feet 2.5 inches. Senior Peter Wheeldon also took home a pair of second places in the 200 meter and the 400 meter with times of 23.33 and 52.19.
Both of them were also on the 4×200 meter relay team along with Jon Madison and JJ Kurschner. The team ran the race in 1 minute and 39.33 seconds which was good for second place.
Senior JJ Kurschner also placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.94 seconds and seventh in the 100 meter dash coming in at 11.82 seconds. Sophomore Jon Madison went on to place eighth in the 400 meter run with a time of 59.76.
Junior Mark Knops earned the team some points by placing fifth in shot put with a throw of 38 feet and 3.25 inches, eighth in the half mile run with a time of 2 minutes 32.22 seconds and seventh in the mile run coming in at 5 minutes and 27.39 seconds.
They had two relay teams that earned sixth place. In the 4×100 relay, Parker Coombs, Conner Husky, Jon Frett and Isaiah Romero ran the race in 52.23 seconds. And in the 4×400 relay, Jon Madison, Aiden Madison, Jon Frett and Devon Lee ran a 4 minute 8.67 second time.
A few more points were scored by sophomore Forest Bettendorf who placed sixth in the two mile run with a time of 12 minutes and 44.14 seconds and freshman Isaiah Romero who placed eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet.

Glenwood City Girls
Senior Haylie Hannah was the lone first-place finisher for the GC girls with a jump of 9 feet 6 inches in pole vault.
There were two second-place winners on the team. They were junior Kyra Flick in shot put with a throw of 33 feet 10 inches and sophomore Ava Multhauf in high jump with a leap of 4 feet 9 inches.
Flick also placed sixth in discus with a toss of 82 feet 8 inches. Two other teammates won sixth place, sophomore Gretchen Draxler in shot put with a throw of 27 feet 4 inches and senior Rileigh Schwartz in triple jump with a jump of 27 feet 4 inches.
Other points were scored by sophomore Alexis Alms, who placed seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.99, and the 4×100 relay team which placed eighth. The team included Gretchen Draxler, Kyra Flick, Tessa Klatt and Julia Edison; they ran the race in 1 minute 2 seconds.

Boyceville Girls
On the Boyceville girls’ team five athletes were the top scorers. Freshman Sydney Larson placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 54.55 seconds and third in triple jump with a leap of 29 feet 2.75 inches.
And sophomores Halle Tonn and Brylee Stevens also picked up some points. Halle vaulted to second place in the pole vault with a jump of 8 feet six inches. She also placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.95 seconds. While Stevens placed third in pole vault with a jump of 7 feet 6 inches and fifth in triple jump with a leap of 29 feet 2.75 inches.
Sophomore Ashlyn Maska placed third in the 1,600 m run with a time of 6 minutes 8.51 seconds and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles coming in at 55.22 seconds. And senior Jaden Stevens placed sixth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1 minute 8.73 seconds.
Other teammates that scored points were involved in two relays. In the 4×100 relay, Brylee Stevens, Lexi Cole, Avery Iverson and Kylee Schlough placed fourth with a time of 59.16 seconds. And in the 4×200 relay, Jaden Stevens, Kylee Schlough, Sydney Larson and Halle Tonn placed third with a time of 1 minute 58.30 seconds.
