Glenhaven News
June 26- July 2, 2021
Another warm week, and not much rain. We showed an inch in Glenhaven’s rain gauge, but Emerald, at least at my place, only had 2/10 of an inch. Sure hope we see some soon, as some of the corn is looking pretty sick. We’ve been watering pretty much every day.
This week was kind of a screwy one, as we had to keep changing our schedule, due to the seal coating in our parking lots.
We had C,T, and the Heuts scheduled for Tuesday, but the seal coating was scheduled for that day, so we changed it to Thursday, but the work wasn’t done, so ended up cancelling it entirely. I felt bad about that because the residents love it when they come, but it couldn’t be helped. We’ll see them sometime in August.
We changed Bingo to Tuesday, as I was out on Wednesday afternoon. Residents also watched church on TV in the morning, and some had manicures.
The beauty shop was very busy on Wednesday morning. It seems like everyone needs a haircut about the same time!
Exercises were done in the lobby on Monday and Thursday mornings. On Thursday afternoon, we did a craft project for the 4th of July. Clancy, Bill, Bev, Marian, Chuck, and Betty helped to make red, white and blue paper chains, which are hung up in the households. They did a great job!
Friday was popcorn day, as usual, and in the afternoon we tried our hand at trying to knock down empty pop cans with squirt guns. It was a beautiful day for it, as we had a little breeze, which made it quite comfortable outside. Dave definitely won that contest, once he got the hang of how to operate the squirt gun. They certainly aren’t like the simple things we used to have. They had a good time. We had iced tea and sat and visited for some time after the game.
Our flowers in the courtyard where we were playing are getting chewed on by some nasty little bugs. We’ll need to get some spray out there, or they will be destroyed. They especially seem to like the purple colored vines we planted. They are a bright green and kind of copper colored. If anyone knows what they are for sure, give me a call.
Hope you all had a safe holiday!
