Several residents enjoyed visits with their families over the Easter weekend. We appreciate John and Rose McCutchin for volunteering to help check people in and direct them.
We held an Easter Egg hunt outside on Monday. It was a beautiful day. The only problem was that it was so warm that the Hershey’s Kisses were melting in the eggs! Didn’t see that one coming!
Household C has been kind of hunting all week, as we hid theirs around their household.
We had to do some rearranging of the calendar because of Easter holiday coming on Sunday, so we played Bingo on Tuesday and Thursday this week, and did our “Beach Day” on Wednesday.
Resident Council was held on Tuesday morning, as well as church services on TV. We decided to try Bingo outside that afternoon since it was so nice out. That proved to be a little challenging for a couple of reasons, including the wind. Dave’s Bingo card went for a ride right in the middle of a game. I think we’ll stick to inside Bingo!
Tuesday was also the birthday of the Hostess Twinkie. So we had Twinkies for treats after Bingo. I hadn’t tried one of those for ages! That was what I heard from many of the residents also. Most of them had to ask what they were. They all seemed to enjoy them.
Our “Beach Party” was on Wednesday, along with beautification with Jen.
We played beach balloon volleyball, which is a lot of fun, but certainly tires the residents out. For snacks afterwards we had our own version of Hawaiian punch, along with coconut cookies and goldfish crackers.
Some of the residents also put wipe on tattoos on their arms that day. We teased Chuck about looking like a tough sailor with a mermaid on his arm. That made him chuckle!
Carol had gotten a lot of seashells from her sister, so residents decorated picture frames with shells, and they will put their pictures in them. They turned out very cute. It’s amazing to see the pictures of how many shells are just lying all over the sand in Florida, as well as the various shapes and colors.
Bingo for C&D was on Thursday afternoon. We played for quarters and chocolate Easter Eggs. That was definitely an inside day, as it was pouring rain outside.
Birthdays this coming week will be Marilyn Knutson and Charlie Roen. Happy Birthday to you both!
