Happy Birthday, Betty Steies!!! Thanks to the Steies family for the Betty Boop cupcakes. They were delicious. It was a good start to our week.
We had 1:1 exercises in rooms on Monday, and music in the courtyard in the afternoon. We also played a “Can you name the cake” game while we were outside. It entailed a little thinking, but eventually we got the answers. One of our toughest ones was “What kind of cake would you find on the ocean floor?” I’ll let you readers try to figure that one out.
We had church on TV in many rooms on Tuesday morning, and for National Milk Chocolate Day, we had homemade fudge and little candy bars for treats in the afternoon. It was also gardening day, and sadly we had to pull up the pumpkin plants, as they were all dying, as a result of probably too much rain and too many deer. We thankfully still have a pretty good bunch of tomatoes, if something doesn’t happen to them. It’s not been a stellar year for our garden.
Several ladies had their hair set or curled on Wednesday during our in-house beauty shop day. Next week our beautician will be back. She has a lot of haircuts to do, that’s for sure!
Our afternoon was Bingo and snacks in C&D Households. Everyone looks forward to Bingo!
Thursday was care conference day, and we also had in-room exercises. We spent some time outside filling up and adding a couple of bird feeders for our residents (of which there are a lot) who enjoy our winged friends. This has been one of the best years for bird watching here at Glenhaven. I don’t know why, but we seem to have more birds about than usual. We thank Dolly Donovan’s family for the donation of a beautiful bird bath which came from her home. The birds and our residents are truly appreciating it.
Friday was popcorn day and flower gardening day. Everything needed a good drink of water, dead heading, and trimming back.
The monthly calendars were printed and distributed to each resident for August. A couple of things on August’s calendar that may be of interest to our readers are National Peach Month, Nature Month, and National Honey Bee Awareness Day. We will have some of our activities planned around these occasions. Summer is slipping away too fast!
