Bulldog girls stampeded by Mondovi Buffaloes

BOYCEVILLE — On a snowy Friday night (December 13th) the Mondovi Buffaloes stampeded in to town and handed the Boyceville Lady Bulldogs yet another loss on the basketball season by a 72-54 score.
Although, the Lady Bulldogs haven’t been able to put a check in the win column for conference play, things are looking up for the squad.
According to Boyceville head coach Jolene Bird, she saw some good things from her team in the loss to Mondovi. Unfortunately, foul trouble and turnovers led to a tough night.
At the beginning of the first half, the Bulldogs had the upper hand and were leading the Buffaloes 17-7. However, the tides turned and the Buffaloes soon took control of the game outscoring the lady Dawgs 31-23 in the first half.
In the second half, the Buffaloes bested the Bulldogs by ten points at 41-31.
Despite the loss, Coach Bird found something to be positive about. She said that they are finally being more consistent at the free throw line. As a team, Boyceville shot for 60% from the charity stripe with Mya Lagerstrom, Tyra Kostman and Ana Evenson shooting 100% from the line.
Bird also remarked that, “Emma Ouellette had a good game offensively when we were able to keep her on the floor.” As she was in foul trouble and eventually fouled out of the game. Ouellette led the Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points followed by Kostman with ten and Megan Hintzman with nine.
Kostman led the Bulldogs in rebounds with five offensive grabs and six defensive rebounds. Evenson and Kady Grambow each had six total rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs only have one competition this week when they travel to Durand this Thursday, December 19th for another conference game. Boyceville will then break for the holidays and will not return to action until Thursday, January 2 when they travel to Cumberland for a out-of-league contest.
