COLFAX — April 1 was spring election day in Wisconsin, and there were a number of local elections on the ballot for village board, school board and town board.
According to the unofficial election results posted on the Dunn County clerk’s website, a total of 17,196 votes were cast in Dunn County.
Dunn County has 29,103 registered voters, so the voters who turned out April 1 represented 59 percent of registered voters.
Dunn County has 35,372 total eligible voters, so the number of people who voted in the April 1 election represents 49 percent of the of the people eligible to vote.
Here are the unofficial election results, which must be certified by the Board of Canvassers to become official election results.
Colfax Village Board
Three candidates were on the ballot for four positions on the Colfax Village Board.
Incumbent village president Jeff Prince received 357 votes.
Incumbent village trustees Margaret Burcham and Clinton J. Best were on the ballot for three village trustee positions, with Burcham receiving 268 votes and Best receiving 234 votes.
Incumbent Jen Rud did not turn in her candidacy papers by the deadline in January but registered as a write-in candidate.
Rud received 21 votes.
Under state law, the votes for write-in candidates can only be counted if the candidate has registered as a write-in candidate with the municipal clerk.
Colfax school board
Three candidates were on the ballot for two positions on the Colfax Board of Education.
Incumbent school board member Todd A. Kragness received 645 votes.
Prior to the election, Kragness had indicated that even though he was on the ballot, he was not planning to serve another term on the school board.
A Letter to the Editor explaining that Kragness did not intend to serve the next term was published in the Colfax Messenger prior to the election.
The two other candidates on the ballot were Tiffany Schaffner and Heather Logslett.
Schaffner received 1,202 votes.
Logslett received 1,305 votes.
EM Village Board
Four candidates were on the ballot for four positions on the Elk Mound Village Board April 1.
Tim Benjamin was the only candidate on the ballot for village president and received 255 votes.
Benjamin currently serves as a trustee on the village board, and his position will not be up for election until 2026.
The Elk Mound Village Board plans to appoint a village resident to fill the remainder of his term.
Incumbent village trustees Patricia Hahn, Bob Bachman and Joyce Price were the candidates for three trustee positions on the village board.
Hahn received 193 votes, while Bachman received 194 votes, and Price received 192 votes.
EM school board
Three candidates were on the ballot for two positions on the Elk Mound school board.
Elk Mound Board of Education incumbents Jen Plemon and Holly Sweeney were on the ballot along with candidate Jon Voight.
Plemon received 1,213 votes.
Sweeney tallied 986 votes.
Voight gathered 935 votes.
Town of Colfax
The Colfax Town Board had three positions up for election with three candidates on the ballot.
Dean Logslett, the incumbent town chair, received 465 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1, Jason Klukas, received 456 votes, and incumbent Supervisor 2, Gary Bjork, received 463 votes.
Incumbent town treasurer Kyra Pickett received 461 votes.
Town of EM
Three incumbents were on the ballot for three positions on the Town of Elk Mound Board.
Incumbent town chair Tony Christopherson received 607 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Jeffrey Klemp received 591 votes, and incumbent Supervisor 2 Dennis Rhead received 580 votes.
Incumbent town clerk Kelly Bartholomew received 594 votes.
Incumbent town treasurer Anne Wahl received 640 votes.
Town of Grant
The ballot for the Town of Grant April 1 had one candidate for town chair and two candidates each for Supervisor 1 and Supervisor 2.
Incumbent town chair Mark Dietsche received 193 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Timothy Lauffer received 154 votes while challenger Jeff Foster received 44 votes..
Of the two candidates for Supervisor 2, Brian Johnson received 125 votes, and Phillip H. Taylor received 70 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 2 Brad Larson was not on the ballot.
Incumbent town treasurer James G. Ackerlund received 196 votes.
Town of Otter Creek
One candidate was on the ballot in the Town of Otter Creek for town chair and for Supervisor 1, and there were two candidates for Supervisor 2.
Incumbent town chair LeAnn R. Ralph received 181 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Cecil Hayes received 178 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 2 Robert Bernier received 111 votes, and challenger Jeff Dehnoff received 83 votes.
Town of Red Cedar
Three candidates are on the ballot April 1 for three positions on the Town of Red Cedar Board.
Incumbent town chair Bob Cook received 809 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Erik Henderson tallied 788 votes..
Dennis Gotlibson gathered 773 votes for Supervisor 2.
Incumbent Supervisor 2 Jim Richartz was not on the ballot in the April 1 election.
Town of Sand Creek
There were three candidates on the ballot in the Town of Sand Creek.
Incumbent town chair Michael Nelson received 232 votes.
Incumbent Joel Smith received 214 votes, and incumbent John Loy received 156 votes.
Incumbent town clerk Pamela Meinen received 230 votes.
Incumbent treasurer Melanie Donath tallied 229 votes.
Town of Spring Brook
Three candidates were on the ballot for the Spring Brook Town Board.
Incumbent town chair John E. Schaefer received 630 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Michael Moose Hase gathered 631 votes, while incumbent Supervisor 2 Jerry M. Hotchkiss received 627 votes.
Incumbent town clerk Mary Strand tallied 675 votes.
Incumbent town treasurer Colleen A. Mensing received 647 votes.
Town of Tainter
Three candidates were on the ballot for the Tainter Town Board.
Incumbent town chair Randy Valaske received 885 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 2 Jerry Mrdutt received 875 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 5 Jeremy Kozumplik won 825 votes.
Town of Wilson
Three candidates were on the ballot for the Wilson Town Board April 1.
Incumbent town chair Raymond J. Glaser received 175 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 1 Wayne Christopherson received 173 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor 2 Dale Lien received 178 votes
Incumbent town clerk Denise Schlough gathered 186 votes.
Incumbent town treasurer Kim Lewis tallied 178 votes.
Chippewa County
Cooks Valley
For the Cooks Valley Town Board, incumbent town chair Darrel Fehr received 278 votes.
For the two supervisor positions, Kale T. Clements received 226 votes, and Matthew Borofka received 204 votes.
Write-in candidate Erica Ullom received 61 votes for town clerk.
Jan E. Thorson received 245 votes for treasurer.
Town of Howard
Tom Zwiefelhofer received 280 votes for town chair in the Town of Howard.
Heather Rothbauer-Wanish gathered 277 votes for Supervisor 1.
Lenny Bowe won 247 votes for Supervisor 2.
Susan Haake received 285 votes for town clerk.
Debra E. Wallsch tallied 291 votes for town treasurer.
Kris Krall received 277 votes for town constable.
