On Tuesday, November 5, the Ek Mound club of Lion’s Clubs International, represented by Joel Certa-Werner and Terry Stamm, presented two new signs to the Elk Mound Food Pantry, represented by Linda Dempski. The food pantry is located at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church and is open on Tuesdays and Fridays.  The signs were designed by Thanael Certa-Werner and Brenda Johnson.  One sign is for the front of the church building and the other indicates the door used for the pantry.

The mission for Lions Club International is to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, support those in need, encourage peace, and promote international understanding, so, the sign project fits well as a club initiative.

Other recent projects sponsored by the Elk Mound club of Lions Club International include: new “Welcome to Elk Mound” signs at the north and south entrances to the village, the “Lights of Love” Memorial Christmas Tree and Lighting Ceremony, the new lighted Christmas decorations for Menomonie Street, sponsoring an Eagle Scout project, hosting an annual Peace Poster contest with middle-school children, buying children’s books for an area book reading group, eye testing for children in grade school, highway clean-up, homecoming parade float, and financial support of local Lion’s campgrounds for disadvantaged children.
