GCHS students attend FFA National Convention

Glenwood City FFA at National Convention

Ten Glenwood City High Schoolers had the opportunity to travel to Indianapolis Indiana to attend the 97th FFA National Convention October 23rd-26th. Students had the ability to go on multiple industry tours of Indianapolis area businesses. Include the Caterpillar visitor center, Hunters Honey Farm, the Indianapolis Zoo, and Connors Prairie. Along with attending sessions and other gatherings.

Students at convention could connect with the over 70,000 other FFA members from all across the country, along with spending time in the expo hall talking to businesses and colleges about future careers in agriculture. Along with that students had the opportunity to attend sessions, and hear speeches from keynote speakers like Kevin Wayzner and Temple Grandin, and with being able to take lots of opportunities to connect with other members and develop leadership and interpersonal skills. A special opportunity was given to Glenwood City Senior Emily Tews, who is currently serving as an FFA in the USA Reporter, she was able to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the media and newsroom at the national FFA, being able to see how professionals at National FFA do their jobs, along with being able to be on set and meet the host of Inside Convention- an Emmy nominated, hour-long news segment National FFA runs every day throughout National Convention.

Students were very excited to be able to take part in such a huge gathering of students, and were happy to be able to represent Glenwood City proudly, while taking time to learn about the future of agriculture.
