Crash in Menomonie involving a school bus

MENOMONIE — At 3:54 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 a crash occurred on County Highway B at Interchange of I-94 in Dunn County near Menomonie.

The crash involved one injury. The details of the crash are as follows:

A Chevrolet pickup and a Ford Excursion, traveling north bound, were stopped on County B at the interchange of I-94 at the stop lights for road construction. A school bus, also traveling north, approached both vehicles from the rear and was unable to stop in time, striking the pickup and pushing it into the SUV.

There were approximately 45 children on the bus. No one on the bus was injured. The driver of the school bus was Douglas Eugene Tylee of Menomonie.

The driver of the pickup, David D. Merten from Colfax, that the bus struck, was transported with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting agencies included Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, Menomonie Police Department, and Menomonie EMS.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
