Colfax Free Fair

Most of the Colfax 22ers 4-H club members participated in the Colfax Free Fair. Some brought animals to the fair, others brought food, and some more brought arts and crafts. Hans Harder won Grand Champion for a wooden baseball bat holder and Mazie Beyrer won Grand Champion ewe and Grand Champion market wether.

Dunn County Fair

The Colfax 22ers also participated in the Dunn County Fair. A few of the Colfax 22ers won Grand Champions:   Mazie Beyer won them for Breeding Ewe, Breeding Lamb, and Market Lamb and an English chicken. Ella Harder won them for a crocheted teddy bear, a painting, and a roasting stick. She also got a Judge’s Favorite on a different painting. Hans Harder won Grand Champion for a wooden baseball bat holder. Eleanor Lisowski won grand gymkhana for grades 3-5. The 22ers also ran the concession stand for 10 hours. We sold a variety of foods and drinks like brownies, soda, ice cream, and chips, just to name a few. 4-H also had a pie and ice cream stand that was so popular that they ran out of pie.

Clover U at Elk Mound

Three of the Colfax 22ers members went to Clover U day in Elk Mound and enjoyed it. There were 2 sessions, where you could pick a variety of things to do.  Michael Christensen did a fishing session and a dog trick session. Megan Christensen did a food nutrition session and the dog trick session. Beverly Beyer did jewelry-making and watercolor painting sessions. Megan Christensen stated, “I loved it.”

Battle of the Clubs

Battle of the Clubs is where all the 4-H clubs around here bring their members. There were around 12 challenges. There was trivia, musical chairs, a bubble gum chewing contest, a gunny sack race, and many more.  Each challenge gave points depending on how well they did. The Colfax 22ers club won.

August Events

Night at the races is a bunch of car races which 4-H can go for free. The 22ers went to the races along with a couple other clubs and there were 80 4-H kids there. Three members of our club attended Cloverbud Day Camp.  22rs went to 2 day camps. Tractor Fest is where a bunch of people bring their tractors.  The 22ers had a spot where there were pedal tractors, a fishing game, face painting, and a bunch of other things.

The next Colfax 22ers meeting is Sunday, September 15 in the Grant Town Hall at 6:00 pm.  New families are welcome to join us to check things out and learn more about 4-H.
