COLFAX — Eleven track and field teams competed at WIAA Division 3 Regional track meet held in Colfax Monday, May 20.
The first four finishers in each event qualified for the sectional meet that took place at Cameron High School on May 23. Nine Hilltoppers advanced to sectionals in individual events as well as three Hilltopper relay teams.
The top eight place winners scored team points.
First-place finishers included sophomore Brady Thompson in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.9 seconds and senior Conner Gross in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet 9 inches.
The 4×400 relay and the 4×800 relay teams both placed first. In the 4×400 relay, Justin Rogers, Brady Thompson, Ilan Anderson and Elliott Springborn finished in 3 minutes 34.67 seconds. While the 4×800 m relay squad of Ilan Anderson, Clayton Hoffman, Brady Thompson, and Elliott Springborn ran the race in 8 minutes 53.77 seconds.
Coming in second were sophomore Clayton Hoffman in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10 minutes 41.14 seconds, junior Tyler Harrington in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 6 inches, sophomore Kyra Flick in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet 7.5 inches and senior Haylie Hannah in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet 6 inches.
Justin Rogers, Tucker Augeson, Tyler Harrington and Conner Gross placed third in the 4×100 relay with a time of 47.81 seconds.
Placing fourth were sophomore Garrett Gross in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 11 minutes 9.59 seconds, junior Ilan Anderson also placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes 11.14 seconds as did senior Tucker Augeson in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet 4 inches.
The Glenwood City boys’ finished third out of 11 team that competed in the Colfax regional with 85 points just a point behind rival and runner-up Boyceville. The Topper girls placed tenth after scoring 29 points. Fall Creek won both the boys’ and girls’ team championships with respective tallies of 165 and 170 points.
