Although the Lady Vikings won the Dunn-St. Croix Conference a week earlier for the first time in school history with a win over Elk Mound, the team had another goal in mind. After another win over Elmwood-Plum City May 9, the girls pounded Glenwood City 18-2 May 13 to win the conference with a perfect 14-0 record.
Colfax then finished off the regular season by defeating a pretty solid Gilman team 17-9 in a non-conference game 24 hours later and finished with an all time best 19-3 record. The Vikings begin WIAA regional play Tuesday, May 21 at home against Cornell-Lake Holcombe.

The Hilltoppers were no match for the Vikings, scoring just two runs in the third inning while Colfax swung their way to six runs in the first, three in the second, five in the fifth and a four spot in the fourth to end the contest.
Brynn Sikora not only batted 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs with two stolen bases, she set the school record for most home runs in a season and most stolen bases in a season. Jada Anderson smashed a grand slam and a triple while going 3-for-4 with six more RBIs, McKenna Shipman batted 3-for-3 with her own triple and swiped a pair of bases while Laikyn Beyer was 2-for-3 with a double and a trio of RBIs. Emma Medin picked up an RBI on a hit and Mackenzi Loback collected two RBIs with a hit.
Beyer earned yet another win from the circle, giving up four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
“It is very awesome to play a part in making school history as part of the first ever D-SC Conference Championship,” Colfax head coach John Dickinsen said.
“I want to give credit to my assistant coaches. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much as we’ve done to get to this point. As coaches,

we have worked so hard right from the start on the program and getting everything to where we want to be. Ultimately, I am just honored to be a part of this team. I am so happy for this group of ladies who have worked so hard to get here. Our group of seniors started out with only four wins their freshmen year and have stayed the course, ultimately getting to not only being Dunn-St. Croix Conference champions, but also setting the school record for most wins in a season. I am so happy for them,” he concluded.

The Pirates are a Division 5 team that has had plenty of success in past years. Playing out of the Cloverbelt East Conference and holding a 12-7 overall record, it appeared they would be a good team to play leading up to the regional playoffs.
The Vikings pulled ahead 13-1 after four innings of play and it seemed they were on their way to another blowout. But the Pirates had some other ideas as they slammed solid shots to the outfield time and again and ended up putting up eight runs in the top of the fifth to keep the game going. The Vikings recovered however, and put things away with a trio of runs in the fifth and a final run in the sixth.
Beyer was a phenomenal 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored. Shipman went 3-for-5, scoring four times while knocking in two runs, Anderson kept up her hitting barrage with a 3-for-4

performance including another home run, three RBIs and three runs scored and Sikora added to her career home run total with another tator while crossing home plate three times. Medin collected a pair of RBIs while Audrey Ebert and Aleah Schindler both brought a run in.
