BOYCEVILLE — The Boyce-ville High School Class of 2023 features 18 honor students including two co-valedictorians, a salutatorian, 11 with high honors and four with honors.
The valedictorians and saluatatorian are featured in a separate story. Those receiving honors (3.5 to 3.74 GPA) and high honors (3.75 or higher GPA) are listed below.

High Honors
Hannah Dunn
Hannah is the daughter of Axel Dunn and Amanda Dittfach.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? My favorite high school classes are psychology. sociology. and anatomy and physiology. I like these classes because they challenge me academically and I am always learning new things that seem practical to my everyday life.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? My most memorable high school event is when our softball team beat Elk Mound. This was so memorable because I have never beaten Elk Mound in any sport and I was super proud of our accomplishment. My whole team shared this excitement and it was a super special moment.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Basketball (four years), softball (four years). Volleyball (four years). Spanish Club (junior year). Science Olympiad (junior and senior year), NHS (junior and senior year).
My favorite activity has been softball. I have created a lot of success for myself through my hard work and dedication and that has been super fulfilling for me as a senior.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? After graduation I will be working to save and start paying for college. I will be preparing for college by registering for classes, taking placement tests, registering for houslng and more.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests right now? I will be attending UW-River Falls. My major will be psychology and I am undecided on my minor.
After earning a bachelor’s degree I plan to further my education and hopefully earn a master’s in counseling or psychology, depending on what career I plan to pursue.
Kaci Fisher
Kaci is the daughter of Mary Fisher.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? 1. Any English class – Mr. C is an amazing teacher. 2. Personal Finance – I learned things I didn’t know. 3. Ecology – I liked learning about wildlife.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The spring musicals were the most memorable while I was in high school. I loved the community and opportunities it gave.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? 1. Musical (7th – 12th) is my favorite, 2. Sci Oly (9th – 11th), 3. NHS (11th – 12th)
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I plan to work during the summer to save money for college. If I committ to the University of Michigan, I’ll attend their summer program.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? Yes, I’m either attending UW-Madison or the University of Michigan for business and law.
Sydney Garbe
Sydney is the daughter of Leah Garbe and John Garbe.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Pre-calculus, I love math and this class while it was difficult I enjoyed learning the material.
Local wildlife ecology – This class while being a science class also gave me the opportunity to be hands-on and more involved with what we were learning.
Biology- I found Biology extremely interesting because of the course material and because of the people in the class. They all seemed to work hard and put in the time and effort like I had to get where they wanted to be.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? One of the most memorable things that happened during my high school years was when my partner and I got 2nd in state for Science Olympiad ornithology. I had worked tirelessly to produce a binder. and a book and train my mind to identify birds, just so we would place. Knowing all of my hard work had paid off was an amazing experience.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? NHS- 2 yrs Science Olympiad- 6 yrs YEP- 6 yrs Yearbook- 1 yr FFA- 1 yr Spanish club- 2 yrs Dance- 2 yrs wrestling cheer 1 yr.
My favorite was Science Olympiad, because of the time and energy I put into it and the things I learned from it. I also enjoyed it because of the people I got to meat and the places I got to go.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? After I graduate I plan on going to Luther Park Bible Camp, there I will be a counselor to help the youth find god and teach them that they are always loved and that no matter what god is there for them. I will get to be outside and with likeminded people.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I plan on attending South Dakota State University and majoring in math with maybe a minor in environmental science.
Devin Halama
Devin is the son of Chad and Kathryn Halama.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Engineering, civics, and electronics were my favorite classes. They were my favorites because I had an interest in learning the material taught and how the teachers taught the classes.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Most memeorable thing that happened to me when I was in high school was getting all conference for basketball.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? FFA, Quizbowl, Football, Basketball, Baseball. Basketball was my favorite because it is my favorite sport and I put so much into it
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? My plans for this summer are to work as much as I can to make money for college.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I plan to attend UW-Platteville and major in civil engineering.
Kylie Luedtke
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why are they favorite classes? Spanish II, 3 + 4. They were my favorite because I learned what I wanted to be in the future.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The musicals, because of the community we build.

Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Traveling to Mexico in the summer of 2023 with Spanish Club. It was memorable seeing the ruins.

My favorite has been being in student council because I enjoy planning and communicating with peers.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? This summer I will be nannying for a local family and provide personal care work.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I plan to attend UW-River Falls to major in elementary education with a minor in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Nicholas Olson
Nicholas is the son of Steve & Angie Olson.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? My favorite high school classes were Wildlife, Fish, & Forestry because it was so similar to what I will be going to college for, Civics because I really enjoyed learning about the U.S. government, and Independent Studies. Art because I got to paint a mural in the football and baseball locker room.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The most memorable event that happened while I was in high school was winning the first outright Dunn-St. Croix conference champio11ship in football in 62 years.

My favorite was football because I have so many memories from it.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? My plans for the summer are to work on my family farm and work at Boyceville Cenex as a cashier.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I am planning on attending the University cf Wisconsin-River Falls. My major will be conservation and Environmental Planning.
Jaden Stevens
Jaden is the daughter of Bradley and Marlo Stevens
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? – Sociology: I think it is interesting to learn about other people and why people act the way they do in our society.
-Sports Marketing: I enjoy learning about the marketing industry in sports and the different aspects that go along with marketing.
– Graphic Design: I enjoy being able to design my ideas and market them to the public.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The most memorable event that happened while I was in high school is when we won the Conference Championship in cross country. Throughout my years in high school, I dreamed of achieving that championship. When I was finally able to be captain my senior year, I led my team to victory.

Cross country and track have been my favorite activities that I have participated in. It is fun to participate in meets with my team and be able to enjoy the championships.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? My plans for this summer are to work at Kavu in Boyceville. I plan to travel to Michigan to visit my roommates for the next upcoming school year. I also plan to stay active throughout the summer.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? My goal for after high school is to attend Central Michigan University to major in Marketing and minor in Multimedia Design. I hope to gain experience with an internship while I am studying at Central Michigan University. My goal is to not only take the classes I need to take in order to get a Bachelor’s degree, but to proceed to find clubs and activities around campus that can benefit myself for the future ahead. With a Bachelor’s degree, I hope to find a position of employment in the marketing and advertising industry in sports. My choice of employment is to be able to market my ideas and designs for sports teams as small as universities and to work my way towards marketing for professional sports.
Sarah Stoveren
Sarah is the daughter of April & Tom Stover.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Anatomy & Physiology – This class has helped me get a basic understanding of the human body which will be beneficial entering the medical field.
Sociology – I gained a better understanding of myself and others.
Calculius – I am receiving four college credits through this class.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? My most memorable event from high school was being a part of the girls cross country team and becoming the Dunn-St. Croix Conference Champions.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Cross Country, Basketball, Softball, FFA, National FFA Convention, PDFW Stride Leadership Conference, Cadaver Lab, Prom Committee, Spanish trip – Cancun, Mexico. My favorite activity was National FFA Convention because I was able to meet students from alomost every other state.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I plan to work at Dakota’s Place in Boyceville and continue working on my family’s farm. I also plan to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible before college.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I plan to attend UW-Madison or UW-Eau Claire for pre-med while majoring in Biology.
Jadynn Traxler
Jadynn is the daughter of Jason & Jess Traxler
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes?
1) any of my ag classes – I like animals/plants and it was always interesting 2) painting – calming and I am able to express myself through my work 3) college calculius – I like math and it challenges me to always try my hardest
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Going to Mexico in June of 2023 for Spanish class. There were so many crazy/new/exciting experiences and was the first time I have been to another country.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Softball 9-12; basketball 10-12; dance 10-12; trap 9-12; FFA 9-12; Spanish club 10-11; NHS 11-12. Softball is my favorite because I am competitive and have been playing since T-ball.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I will be working my current job which is milking cows. Maybe go on a road trip and prepare for college time in the fall.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? I plan to attend UW-River Falls in the fall of ‘24. I will be majoring in Dairy Science with a possible minor in crop science.
Becca E. Wyss
Becca is the daughter of John & Angela Wyss
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes?
English, Spanish, and Choir. These classes were all taught by my favorite teachers.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Attending the Halloween themed football game in winter. I’ve never seen a better rendition of the Cupid Shuffle.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Drama – 4 years, Volleyball – 4 years, Science Olympiad 4 years, Quizbowl – 2 years. Drama was my favorite extracurricular because I was able to spend time with my friends & dance around on stage like a fool.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I’m not entirely sure what I will do over the summer.I will most likely get a factory job or something of that nature so I can start socking money away for college.
Are you planning to attend college or technical school, and if so where? What will be your major? If you are an undecided major, what are your interests? In the fall of this year I will be attending UW-Stevens Point where I will be majoring in Accounting and minoring in Graphic Design.

Parker Coombs
Parker is the son of Scott and Holly Coombs
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? My top three favorite classes are Engineering, AP Physics and Calculus. These are my favorite because of the teacher and the people in the course.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The most memorable event was when the Boyceville bank got robbed. I was not expecting it.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? Football – 9, 10, 11, 12/ Wrestling – 11, 12/ Basketball – 9, 10, Baseball – 9, 10, 11/ Track – 12/ Science Olympiad – 9, 10, 11, 12. My favorite activities are football, wrestling and science Olympiad. All were fun.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I plan on working and saving money.

Zach Kersten
Zach is the son of Luke and Alesha Kersten.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Weight Training – I could push myself and look better
AP Physics – I got to do fun labs
Math – I always excelled in math.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Forgetting my science Olympiad planes at school for our trip to Ohio. I got chewed out and yelled at but in the end I still beat Marquette University high school.

Football – 4, Wrestling – 2, Basketball – 2, baseball – 4, Science Olympiad – 4, trap shooting – 4, Musical – 4. Favorite is trap shooting because I feel close to the wilderness.
What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? Work a job some where to save money and afford all my hobbies like hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Paige Mrdutt
Paige is the daughter of Thomas Mrdutt and Amy Frieburg.
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? My three favorite classes are choir, principle of baking and math. Choir has always been one of my fun classes that I love to take. Principles of baking is another class I loved taking. I want to go into culinary arts so anything to do with baking or cooking is my favorite. Lastly Math, I have always enjoyed math and learnmg new things.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? Being selected for Menomonie optimist club. I was told I have been selected on the 2 year anniversary of my grandpas passing

What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? I plan to work at Scheels Pub and Grub and spend time with family before I leave for school

Treylin Thorson
Treylin is the son of Amy Thorson, Douglas Thorson and Jennifer Thorson
List your top three favorite high school classes. Why were they favorite classes? Civics: Mr. Engell made this class interactive and challening, making it one of my favorite classes.
Woodworking: This class has allowed me to make interesting projects that I wanted to make.
Pre-Calculius: This class challenges me in one of my favorite subjects and keeps me learning every day.
Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school? Why was it memorable? The most memorable event in my high school career was defeating Spring Valley in football twice, and getting to face Edgar for our final game.
Provide a list of activities in which you were involved during high school and list the years of involvement. What was your favorite and why? FFA has been my favorite activity for all my years in high school because of the many lessons and fun ttrips along the way. What are your pans for this summer after graduation? Summer job? My plans for the summer are to try and find new employment from my current job and to spread more time outdoors with friends and family.

I am planning on attending college next school year, but have not decided where yet. I am also not decided on my major, but enjoy technical work as well as agriculture and business.
