Bubble blowing fun at Tower Park on May 23rd

Colfax Public Library is hosting “The Bubbler”, Steve Russell, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd in a free show at the park outside the library. Families are invited to come watch, pop bubbles, and enjoy a community “welcome to spring”.

The Bubbler brings whimsy to the world. With a lot of water and just a little bit of soap, The Bubbler fills the air with wonder! Big bubbles, small bubbles, bubbles in bubbles!

There are no device screens, no USB cables, no WiFi connection. Everyone is “plugged in” to a chance to experience a personal connection to simple joy.

Steve has been performing for most of his life, and has seen a lot of the world doing it. He’s performed on cruise ships; at Disneyland and Disney World; onstage at Lincoln Center; in comedy clubs, fairs, festivals, and even at Lambeau Field – home of the Green Bay Packers.

Bubbling came later in life, starting in 2019. While most of his previous work was performing his comedy variety show on varied stages, Steve really loves the freedom that comes with blowing bubbles.

“All I need is my bubble solution, a piece of string, and an open area”, says Steve. “I don’t even need an audience to start performing! I find it very amusing that I can start bubbling in an empty field, and within seconds, the kids find me.”

But, his bubbles aren’t just for kids. There is something in the ethereal beauty of a bubble that draws all ages to watch. While the kids focus on popping them all, the adults secretly hope that some will get away, just enjoying watching the fragile, colorful bubbles ride upon the breeze.

“It is such pure, simple pleasure in a bubble”, says Russell. “It’s a joy to bring this art to a sky near you!”

Free and open to the public.
