SPRING VALLEY — In what turned out to be its only meet last week, thanks to some untimely rain showers, the Colfax-Elk Mound boys’ golf team enjoyed one of its best meets of season when it traveled to Spring Valley for a Dunn-St. Croix Conference competition.
Colfax-Elk Mound had four of its five golfers finish in the top six at the Tuesday, April 30, nine-hole conference golf meet held at the Spring Valley Golf Course.
Led by senior Zane Brice, who shot a 40 to share medalist (low score) honors with Durand-Arkansaw’s Logan Weissinger and Ethan Mack, the local linksters finished with a score of 168 just two strokes behind the winning team from Durand-Arkansaw. Glenwood City placed third with a 177 followed by Spring Valley at 200 and Mondovi had 206 strokes.
C-EM sophomore Lucas Svee finished in a tie for fourth with a 42 just two strokes off the pace set by the tri-medalists. Teammates Beau Borgwardt, a junior, and Christian Ebert, a senior, both finished with scores of 43 for a sixth-place tie. Sophomore Orion Nichols shot a 45 to round out the local varsity scores.
