Crash on St. Croix River Bridge, 8 injuried

On April 25th at approximately 10:30am a two vehicle crash occurred on I94 westbound near mile marker .25 on the St. Croix River bridge.

Two lanes of traffic were closed for construction, the two left lanes were open for westbound traffic. A passenger car stopped in the lane of traffic to allow another vehicle to merge causing traffic behind it to slow suddenly. A school bus transporting students from DeLong Middle School in Eau Claire rear-ended an empty CMV tanker trailer. All vehicles involved were moved to the closed lanes of traffic. Six individuals on the school bus were treated on scene for minor injuries. Two individuals were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation for minor injuries. The crash investigation and enforcement action is pending.

Assisting agencies included Hudson Police Department, Hudson Fire Department, and Lakeview EMS.

**UPDATE** **Upon completion of the crash investigation the following charges for the driver of the school bus were referred to the St. Croix County District Attorney’s office: (1) operate motor vehicle following too closely and (2) operate a school bus without the proper school bus endorsement.**
