The Colfax-Elk Mound boys’ golf team placed third in a pair of nine-hole Dunn-St. Croix Conference golf meets held in Durand and Spring Valley last week.
In its second conference meet of the young season, Colfax-Elk Mound placed third at Rolling Greens Golf Course in Durand Tuesday, April 9. Two days later on the Spring Valley Golf Course, the local linksters parlayed their play into another third-place showing in D-SC meet number three.
Colfax-Elk Mound was slated to host a conference meet at Whitetail yesterday (Tuesday, April 16) before heading to Glen Hills Golf Course in rural Glenwood City on Thursday. Dunn-St. Croix competition then continues next April 23 with a meet at the Valley Golf Course in Mondovi.
Durand
After it finished in a second-place tie in the season and conference opener the previous week, the Colfax-Elk Mound boys’ golfers came in third at the nine-hole Dunn-St. Croix meet held April 9 at Durand’s Rolling Greens Golf Course.
The local squad finished with a team tally of 196 strokes. Durand-Arkansaw swung and putted its way to an easy win on its home course as it finished with a winning score of 158. Glenwood City took second with a 175. Spring Valley and Mondovi were distant fourth and fifth with respective finishes of 216 and 222.
Zane Brice led the C-EM varsity with a low score of 43 in the nine-hole meet. Lucas Svee shot a 47, Christian Ebert and Beau Borgwardt each carded a 53 and Mason Mohr finished with a 56.
Logan Weissinger of Durand-Arkansaw took top individual honors after shooting a 36. Teammate Ethan Mack placed second with a 39.
The Colfax-Elk Mound junior varsity team also finished third in the meet with a score of 230. Glenwood City won that competition with a 213 stroke total, Durand-Arkansaw came in second with a 219 and Spring Valley shot a 267.
Matt Hanson shot a 49 to lead Colfax-Elk Mound junior varsity. Carson VanNess carded a 57, Chance Smith shot a 58, Trey Larson finished with 66 strokes and Levi Elwood signed off on a score of 70.
Spring Valley
Colfax-Elk Mound finished in third place at the conference meet held at Spring Valley Golf Course Thursday, April 11.
Defending D-SC champ Durand-Arkansaw and Glenwood City tied for the top team spot after each finished their competition with identical scores of 173. Host Spring Valley was a distant fourth with a 208 and Mondovi was last with a 223.
Glenwood City junior Esdyn Swenby took medalist honors (low score) with a score of 38 in the nine-hole meet.
Individual scores for Colfax Elk Mound were as follows: Orion Nichols, 44; Christian Ebert, 47; and Beau Borgwardt, 49.
Not all individual golf scores or a final team tally for Colfax-Elk Mound was available for this meet.
