COLFAX — The Colfax Village Board has delayed making a decision on cleaning the exterior of the village’s water tower.
According to information presented to the village board at the March 25 meeting, Rand Bates, director of public works, had received a quote from Water Tower Clean and Coat, Inc., out of Lodi, for $6,000.
The quote was for exterior cleaning of the 150,000 gallon water tower in Colfax to include a pre-rinse application of 200 ppm Clorox bleach mixed with four ounces per gallon of Dawn dish soap sprayed over the surface of the tank several minutes prior to cleaning in order to loosen the mildew and dirt.
The second step would include pressure washing of the pre-rinsed area of the tank using a maximum of 2,200 psi water distributed through a turbo nozzle in order to not scarify the coating, but remove all of the debris from the surface.
The Colfax Village Board delayed taking any action on the quote to give Bates time to obtain quotes from other companies.
