Raptor wrestlers split duals in Colfax, compete in Ladysmith Invitational

In their only competition of the season held at Colfax High School, the Bloomer/Colfax Raptor wrestlers split a pair of duals in a Cloverbelt triangular Thursday, January 11.
Bloomer/Colfax lost to Abbotsford/Colby in the opening dual of the triangular before closing out the meet with a victory over Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek.
Two days later, the Raptors traveled north to Ladysmith to partake in a 16-school invitational. Bloomer/Colfax finished 14th as all eight of its competitors placed.
The Raptors have another multi-school Cloverbelt Conference meet at Thorp High School on Thursday. Participating teams include host Thorp/Owen-Withee, Cadott and Granton. They will then compete Saturday in the Shell Lake Invitational.
Cloverbelt Triangular
Colfax hosted the triangular as the Raptors welcomed Abbotsford/Colby and Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek for a Cloverbelt triangular dual meet.
Bloomer/Colfax finished 1-1 in the meet, losing to Abbotsford/Colby 48-24 in the first dual of the triangular and defeating Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek 33-12 in the finale.
Against Abbotsford/Colby, the Raptors surrendered four pins and an equal number of forfeits in the loss. Bloomer/Colfax wins came at 150 where James McElroy scored a pin and at 157, 190 and 113 pounds were it received forfeits.
In the O-F/A/FC dual, the Raptors clawed up a win thanks to pins by Kolten Burgess (190), Drew Ryder (113) and Zeke Anderson (126), a 7-0 win by McElroy at 150 and a pair of forfeits.
Colfax senior Ayden Anderson, who along with fellow senior Kendra Hamman were honored prior to the start of the duals, finished the triangular with a 1-1 record at 120 pounds. After surrendering a second-period pin to Abbotsford/Colby’s Tristen Smazal, Anderson received a forfeit against Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek.
Ladysmith Invitational
Although only eight wrestlers competed for Bloomer/Colfax at the Ladysmith Invitational held Saturday, January 13, all placed in the 16-team meet.
The Raptors finished 14th in the final team standings with 162 points. Shell Lake claimed the team title with a score of 374.5 points, Cadott came in second with a 332 and Turtle Lake/Clayton finished in third place with a 285.
Drew Ryder had the top individual finish for Bloomer/Colfax as he placed second at 113 pounds with a 3-1 record. Ryder lost by medical default in the championship. Dyllon Zwiefelhofer took fourth at 157, Kolten Burgess was seventh at 190 pounds, Zeke Anderson and Jacob LaGesse both finished eighth at their respective weights of 120 and 126 pounds and Miles Lueck finished 13th at 144 pounds. Kendra Hamman placed third in the junior varsity competition at 190 pounds.
Colfax’s Ayden Anderson did not compete.
