Elk Mound “Lit Up” Christmas Eve
Homes throughout the village of Elk Mound lit luminarias this past Christmas Eve, beginning at 4:00 p.m. and many kept them lit all through the night.! Lighting luminarias is a long-standing Christmas tradition that celebrates how Jesus Christ came on Christmas to bring light to the darkness of life. Each home received a packet from Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound (105 S. Holly Avenue) as a Christmas gift to the community. The packets included two white bags, two battery-candles, and a note with a Christmas greeting along with instructions. Teams from the church distributed packets to every house in the village. “We were so pleased with the response by the community,” Rev. Joel Certa-Werner commented. “There was at least one home on each block throughout the village that lit the luminarias, we had people call the church thanking us for the gift, and some even checked out our Christmas Eve worship service because they received the luminarias! It was so much fun to see the community come together to “light up Elk Mound” and celebrate Christmas together!”
