ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound Board of Education has given approval for a community member to continue fund raising for improvements to the Elk Mound High School football field that would include turf.
Dean Dutzle provided additional information to the Elk Mound school board about the fund-raising efforts at the November 27 meeting.
The school board approved pursuing the project with several conditions, said Eric Wright, district administrator.
One of the conditions is that if there is a large donation for the score board, and the donor would like his or her name on the score board, the Elk Mound Board of Education would have to approve placing the donor’s name on the score board, he said.
The second condition is that if sufficient funds have not been raised in three years, then the money must be returned to the donor, Wright said.
If the donor does not want the money returned, then the donation will go to another school project, he said.
At the October meeting, the Elk Mound school board learned that the turf would benefit softball and baseball, too, because it would allow students to play outside earlier in the spring and would benefit physical education classes as well.
Bus
The Elk Board of Education also approved purchasing a brand new 2023 bus during the November 27 meeting at a cost not to exceed $113,000.
The bus will be purchased now, because if the purchase occurs after January 1, there were will be a cost increase of $10,000, Wright said.
After January 1 there will also be new emission standards for buses, too. The last time the emissions standards were changed, there was a large increase in the price, he said.
The Elk Mound school district will purchase the 2023 bus this year and then will not make a bus purchase next year, Wright said.
