Madison – State Representative Clint Moses (R-Menomonie) presented Dunn County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff Jacob Blum with the 2023 “First Responder of the Year” award during the Assembly floor session on Tuesday. The state Assembly honored Deputy Sheriff Blum in a public ceremony with other recipients from across the state.
“Jacob’s decision to put himself in danger to protect our community shows his dedication and selflessness to keep us safe when put in a difficult scenario like he was.” Rep. Moses said.
Deputy Sheriff Blum has been a member of the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office for 8 years. He prior served at the Menomonie Police Department for 4 years. Deputy Sheriff Blum is a member of the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office peer support team, firearms instructor for the agency and a SWAT operator for the Eau Claire regional SWAT team.
The “First Responder of the Year” award was created in 2019 to recognize the brave men and women who serve in our community. State representatives from each legislative district seek nominations from their communities and select one individual who best exemplifies community service, selflessness and dedication. The list of recipients from this year included police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and all levels of EMS personnel.
The 29th Assembly District includes majority of Dunn and portions of St. Croix and Polk Counties including the communities of Baldwin, Boyceville, Clear Lake, Colfax, Elk Mound, Glenwood City, Menomonie, and Woodville.
