EAU CLAIRE — It was a sunny and cool day for the four Colfax cross country runners as they competed at the Eau Claire Memorial Old Able Invitational meet held at South Middle School Saturday, October 7.
Teams from all three divisions in Wisconsin along with a Minnesota team provided some stiff competition for the Vikings.
Racing against 122 individual runners, Kaysen Goodell was the first Viking to finish for the girls in 27th place in a time of 20:42, while teammate Hannah Peterson ran a personal best time of 21:45 for 57th place. Sara Mlodik of DC Everest took first in 18:03.
Charlie Charbonneau is still coming off being sick, and according to coach Joe Doucette got tired late and faded some as he placed 110th of 142 individual boys in 19:19. Logan Swartz ran his personal best time of 20:55 for 129th place. Brock Bjerke from Hudson won the race in 15:48 to lead his team to the team championship.
Next up for the Vikings will be the Dunn-St. Croix Conference championship at the Rolling Green Golf Course in Durand this Thursday, October 12 with racing set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
