Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Bunks Across America makes over 8,000 beds in one day

DUNN COUNTY — On Saturday, September 9, the Dunn County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (along with chapters in 46 states across the country) made history with an event called “Bunks Across America” (BAA 2023). Partnering with Dunn County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) were the Salem Iron Creek and Trinity United Methodist Churches, Menomonie Sunrise Rotary, and Better Life. The goals of Bunks across America are two-fold:

• Unite the Country – Solving the problem of child bedlessness while creating a sense of unity in community through volunteers and involvement.

• Raise Awareness – not only about the problem facing kids across America, but also about the solution. The country needs to know that SHP is here to help.

“Think of all the kids that will be reached, all the dreams that will be saved, the confidence that will be restored, the worry and stress that will be relieved.

That’s what happens when a child receives a bed. That’s why we do this – for them” (Luke Mickelson, SHP Founder).

“Those from the Salem Iron Creek and Trinity United Methodist Church group all agreed that, “The work was meaningful, the build was fun, and the event well organized. We hope to be part of something so significant again – especially as it impacts the lives of families right in our community!”

There are many ways to get involved, from volunteering to donating, but what we need most is for you to spread the word about Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Learn more about SHP at shpbeds.org, and or from your local chapter contact:
