Colfax High School receives $500 mini grant

Nichelle Broten, Colfax High School biology teacher, has been awarded a $500 mini grant from the Jackie Hunt – State Farm Insurance Agency.

Hunt sponsored Cash For Your Class mini grants.

The grant application Broton submitted was for aquatic insect collection tools.

“We would like to fund your grant for hands-on outdoor science equipment. As our area is impacted by the health of our waterways, we applaud your efforts to connect youth with their waterways,” Hunt said in response to the grant application.

The grant money will be used to purchase field sampling equipment to support students in biology classes in performing field collections on Eighteen Mile Creek. The students will do field collections, take detailed data, analyze the data and determine the overall health of the creek.

Broten said she was highly appreciative of the support from the Jackie Hunt – State Farm Insurance Agency.
