SOMERSET — On a warm, sunny day, Thursday, September 7th, the Colfax cross country runners traveled to Somerset to race against some strong competition.
In a field of 65 individuals, Charlie Charbonneau led the Colfax boys with a seventh place in a time of 19:28 while teammate Logan Swartz was 20th in 22:02. Ian Findley of Baldwin-Woodville won the race in 17:24. Colfax has another boy who has started practicing this past week and may be running in a future meet.
Kaysen Goodell was near the front of the pack of 66 girls, placing fourth in 21:10 to lead Colfax. Hannah Peterson was 11th in 22:31 and Lauren Becker came in at 24:35 for 31st place, setting an all time personal record. Natasha Tiry of Amery won the race in 20:57.
“We are very excited about how well we have run early,” coach Joe Doucette said. “The key is to stay healthy and keep improving. We would love to have a full team but right now we are trying to improve,” he added.
