The Colfax/Elk Mound girls’ golfers continued to sizzle on the area fairways and greens.
Playing in three meets this past week, two of which were combined, the CEM girls’ placed fifth at the 2023 Northwest Wisconsin Golf Classic they hosted at the Whitetail on Tuesday, September 5.
In that same tournament, the CloverCroix schools used their individual scores on the back nine holes as the conference’s fourth meet of the season which Colfax/Elk Mound won handily.
The local ladies added a fifth consecutive conference victory two days later, Thursday, September 7, when the CloverCroix participants reconvened for play at Whispering Pines Golf Course just outside Cadott.
The C/EM girls played a pivotal conference match in Bloomer this past Monday, September 11, which was followed by a dual match with Tomah at Wild Ridge Golf Course yesterday, Tuesday, September 12. Colfax/Elk Mound will be back at Whispering Pines this Thursday and in Mondovi next Tuesday, September 19 for CloverCroix matches.
NW Wisconsin Classic
The Colfax/Elk Mound girls’ golf team finished fifth out of 14 teams at the 2023 Northwest Wisconsin Classic held at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax on Tuesday, September 5.
The girls were led by Elk Mound sophomore Belle Kongshaug, who finished 2nd shooting an 85.
Elk Mound sophomore Gabi Amble and seniors Selena Clickner, Elizabeth Wisemiller and Anne Baier rounded out the starting five for the local golf cooperative at the event.
“After finishing second at this event last year, the girls finished a very respectable fifth this year against a great field from across northwest Wisconsin,” stated Colfax/Elk Mound coach Ryan Krall.

CloverCroix Meet #4
The Colfax/Elk Mound stayed on top in conference play as they collected their fourth consecutive win in as many conference meets this season.
The CloverCroix Conference schools of Colfax/Elk Mound, Bloomer, Mondovi, Osseo-Fairchild, and Stanley-Boyd, counted the scores on the back nine holes of the Northwest Wisconsin Classic, played at Whitetail Golf Course September 5, as CloverCroix Conference meet #4.
Along with the team, sophomore Bell Kongshaug claimed her fourth straight conference meet win with a score of 40. She best runner-up Baitlyn Bohl of Bloomer who shot a 44.
Three other teammates of Kongshaug earned top ten finishes in the meet. Gabi Amble took third with a 49, Selena Clickner shot a 51 to tie for fourth and Anne Baier finished in a two-way tie for ninth after carding a 59. Elizabeth Wisemiller took 14th place for Colfax/Elk Mound with a 62.
Colfax/Elk Mound posted a winning tally of 199. Bloomer shot a 211 to take second, Stanley-Boyd came in third with a 294 and fourth-place went to Mondovi after shooting a 303.
CloverCroix Meet #5
The Colfax/Elk Mound girls’ golf team continued their hot streak in CloverCroix Conference play at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott on Thursday, September 7 as it won a fifth straight conference match to open the girls’ golf season.
The local girls finished 21 shots better than runner-up Bloomer, taking a five-point lead in the team conference standings with six events left to play.
Sophomore Belle Kongshaug continued her dominance in conference play, finishing as medalist with an even par 36, good enough for a nine-shot victory over Bloomer senior Kaitlyn Bohl. Sophomore Gabi Amble continued her solid play, finishing third overall with a 51. Sophomore Isabelle Baier and senior Josie Seehaver rounded out the varsity squad today, shooting 58 and 63, respectively.
In the junior varsity match, C/EM seniors Abby Werner and Anne Baier tied for medalist honors, each shooting 58. Senior Elizabeth Wisemiller rounded out the team’s scoring Thursday, shooting a 61 and finishing fifth overall in the JV match.
