COLFAX – The Colfax Public Library was recently awarded close to $1400 worth of children’s books from The Pilcrow Foundation. The Pilcrow Foundation’s mission is to provide new, quality, hardcover children’s books to rural public libraries across the United States. This grant award was supported by local business sponsors Salon 610 and Colfax Heating and Cooling.
“We are so appreciative of being able to add so many dynamic children’s books to our collection before the start of summer reading. Families have been eagerly grabbing them off the shelves,” says Library Director, Lisa Bragg-Hurlburt.
The library received 79 books for ages pre-K to 8th grade. The Pilcrow Foundation matched local sponsors two-to-one in funding and also provided additional books from their donor-sponsored programs covering topics that included health, wellness, marginalized voices, math, and science. Local and Pilcrow sponsors have their names or businesses listed on book plates in the front of all grant award titles and the new books are currently on display in the library.
Colfax Public Library is supported by the Village of Colfax and Dunn County. Colfax Public Library’s mission is to be a welcoming place that promotes diversity and inclusion and encourages the love of reading in children, young adults, and adults. They offer assistance, reference, and access to technology and strive to provide a comfortable facility for studying and group activities. The library has been located at 613 Main St. in the Colfax Municipal Building for over 100 years.
