LA CROSSE — Just as they have all season, Jeanette Hydukovich and Molly Heidorn have led the Colfax girls in scoring team points at every meet. The two of them accounted for all 13 points scored at the final meet of the season, the WIAA State Track and Field Championships held at Veterans Memorial Field Complex on the UW-La Crosse campus last Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3.
Hydukovich, a junior, claimed a silver medal in her speciality, the discus throw with a heave of 122-04 which came about in her first of five throws. Nolie Anderson of St. Marys Catholic had one great throw of 128-11 to win the competition with that throw being seven inches further than any of her other four throws.
Heidorn, a senior who will take her talents to UW-Eau Claire for cross country this fall, competed in her third state meet and finished fourth in the 3,200 m run in a time of 11:20.30, 25 seconds faster than her sectional time.Sophia Bablitch of Roshelt took first in 10:55.35. Heidorn also finished 11th in the 1,600 m run in 5:19.47 with Autumn Michalski of Chequamegon taking the top spot, for the second straight year, in 4:52.35.
Heidorn anchored the 4×800 relay team to a 12th place finish of 16 teams along with sophomores Kaysen Goodell and Hannah Peterson and freshman Janica Larson, clocking in at 10:11.12. The foursome from Lourdes Academy won the race in 9:34.30.
Senior Nick Jensen was the lone representative for the Viking boys, placing 14th in the discus throw with a toss of 125-02. Aiden Janke of Athens won the contest in 159-06.
“I was impressed with our state performances. Not everything went the way we would have liked, but the student-athletes were able to bounce back and keep their heads held high,” said head coach Kathleen Thorn.

“This senior class is something special: they are talented, dedicated, hardworking and coachable. Those are traits that are going to take them far with whatever they decide to do from here,” she concluded.
Colfax will lose graduated seniors Molly Heidorn, Nick Jensen, Mark Sonnentag, David Lyrek, and Ashton Yarrington.
