State solo/ensemble results for Colfax High School

Colfax High School had several musical members perform at the state solo and ensemble contest which was held at UW – Eau Claire on Saturday, May 6. The results of the days activities are found below:

1st (top) rating:

Aydren Beebe-music theatre solo  “If I Were a Rich Man” from Fiddler on the Roof

Theo Hovde-vocal solo “Roadside Fire”

Theo Hovde-music theatre solo “Kansas City” from Oklahoma

Alex Rose-music theatre solo “What Do I Need with Love?” from Thoroughly Modern Millie

Jordan Johnson-music theatre solo “Someone Else’s Story” from Chess

Men’s Vocal Ensemble (Aydren Beebe, Alex Rose, David Paulson, Jacob Wibel, David Lyrek, Theo Hovde)  “Jonah”

2nd rating:

Emma Palewicz-music theatre solo  “What it Means to be a Friend” from 13

Emma Palewicz-vocal solo “I Love All Graceful Things”

Jordan Johnson-vocal solo “Silent Noon”

Jazz Band “Hay Burner” and “Europa”

Also qualifying for state but not performing at state:

Women’s Ensemble and David Paulson’s vocal solo

In addition this year, both Aydren Beebe and Theo Hovde were nominated for Exemplary Awards by their judges. Throughout the 8-hour day of performances, judges may nominate entries that are deserving of the “Exemplary” award. At the end of the day each judge may choose one or two favorites from their whole day of judging to receive Exemplary Awards, and both Beebe and Hovde were chosen.  This is Hovde’s second year of receiving an Exemplary Award at state.
