COLFAX — The Colfax Village Board has appointed Clinton Best to the open village trustee position.
The village board received two letters of interest for filling the vacant trustee position from Clinton Best and Mark Mouledoux.
In his letter, Best wrote:
“To the Village of Colfax Board:
“Hi, my name is Clinton Best. I am interested in becoming a member of the village board. The reasons I am interested are, I enjoy living in our village and want to be a part in keeping it an enjoyable place to live. I also want to learn about our local government and how it works. Thank you.”
In his letter, Mouledoux wrote:
“I am interested in filling the vacancy on the current Colfax Village Board of Trustees. I greatly appreciate being considered for the position. Any and all signatures accompanying this letter of interest are from legal aged adults with an address within the Village of Colfax.”
Mouledoux included multiple pages with 60 signatures under the statement, “With my signature below, I support Mark S. Mouledoux to serve as trustee on the Colfax Village Board for the current vacant seat as of April 2023.”
When asked if they would like to address the village board, Best said he wanted to become more involved with the village.
Mouledoux noted that his businesses are located in Colfax, so he is “quite available” to talk to village residents if they want to speak about village business.
“People love this town,” he said.
Mouledoux described himself as a voice for the residents of the village who would listen to their concerns with a kind ear.
Jeff Prince, village president, thanked both individuals for their interest in serving on the village board.
Five village board members were present at the meeting: Prince, and Village Trustees Margaret Burcham, Carey Davis, Anne Jenson and Gary Stene. Village Trustee Jen Rud was absent from the meeting.
The Colfax Village Board voted by secret ballot.
All five members of the Colfax Village Board that were present voted for Best.
Stene thanked both Best and Mouledoux for submitting letters of interest.
“Keep showing interest. We need involvement (and village residents) to be active,” he said.
