Despite warm weather coming in fits and starts, weekly shooting events have resumed at the Colfax/Dunn County Shooting Sports Complex. The complex is south of the village at N8498 810th Ave.

Upgrade work on the facility, such as building new benches for the shootings bays and repairing tables for bowling pin shoots, has been carried out despite rain, sleet and snow confronting the volunteers. Cement has been done between rains.

Monday night open trap shooting started April 10. NRL22 shoots are the third Sunday of each month. NRL22 is a division of The National Rifle League.

Colfax Sportsmen’s Club’s first monthly Speed Freak Rimfire match was April 15. The next one will be May 20.

Steel Challenge will get underway with it’s first monthly shoot on May 6. Weekly Wednesday evening steel challenge shoots are schedule to begin May 10.

Colfax Sportsmen’s Ciub meetings are 7:00 pm the first Wednesday of every month.

Both Colfax Scholastic Action Shooting Team and Colfax Scholastic Trap Team began their Sunday afternoon practices in February. Twice the club had to plow the range out so the teams to get on the shooting range and the trap field.

Scholastic Action Shooting Team athletes engage various arrangements of steel plates, very similar to steel challenge. The team will be competing at the State Shoot at Saukeville and the National Shoot at Marengo, Ohio.

Scholastic conference league 16 yard American Singles trap shooting kicked off April 2. There are six teams in the conference division that the Colfax Scholastic Trap Team is in.

Both teams are open to students in elementary through high school. Both teams always welcome new athletes. Experience isn’t necessary, according to Jim Nosker, head coach of both teams.
