Colfax junior McKenna Shipman and Elk Mound sophomore Ellie Schiszik were both selected to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All State teams for the 2023 season. Both were named honorable mention in their respective divisions.
Shipman played in Division 4 and was also named to the Associated Press honorable mention team as well. She led the Vikings in scoring with a 16.9 points per game average, making 66.9 percent of her free throw attempts along with draining 44 three-point shots. She averaged 6.5 rebounds per game, collected 50 steals, 77 assists and 19 blocked shots. Her two biggest free throws came in the sectional final in the last seconds against Neillsville to send the Vikings to the WIAA state tournament where they lost to eventual state champion Laconia.
Competing in Division 3, Schiszik, just a sophomore, led the Mounders in scoring with a 15.1 average per game, drilling 72 triples and averaged 58 percent at the free throw line. She averaged 3.7 rebounds per game with 67 assists, 96 steals and 10 blocked shots. Schiszik was instrumental in the Mounders 25-2 overall record and 14-0 record in D-SC Conference action to win the conference title outright. Elk Mound lost in the sectionals to West Salem who went on to play in the state tournament.
