CHANGING OF THE GUARD — Ginny Julson hands over the keys after 21 years of service to Kallie Anderson, right, who will be replacing Julson in April. —photo submitted
After 21 years of being the Director of the Boyceville Public Library, Ginny Julson will be retiring in April. We are excited to welcome Kallie Anderson as the new Director. Kallie is coming to us from directing the Elmwood Public Library. Having grown up here in Boyceville, completing her Library and Information Services degree from CVTC and having worked in multiple libraries within the MORE system since her graduation, Kallie is qualified and well suited for this directorship.
As excited as we are for Kallie to join us here at the Boyceville Public Library we are losing the “face” of the library in Ginny Julson. Ginny has been the Director of BPL for 21 years. The relationships Ginny has made with her patrons are why people stop just to “check in with Ginny” after having been away from the community for years. It is Ginny’s vision that has created a space where all folks are welcome to the resources and programs offered by the library, where learning and silly fun are embraced, and a not-so-quiet library has become a community space of connection.
Ginny shared that she would miss watching the kids develop and make their first friends in Storytime growing into the Summer Reading Program to afterschool chats in the teen section and then seeing them run with their family in the Cucumber Run. From answering all questions library related to checking up on how the family is doing, Ginny has connected people to her, each other, and the community for 21 years.
In honor of her service to the Boyceville community, please join us Thursday, April 6th from 12-5pm for an open house retirement party. Ginny would love to connect with you in this space that holds many wonderful memories.
