• What is your occupation?
I am a Business Manager with UnitedHealth Group. I work from home and have been a leader with the company for 15 years.
• What is your educational background?
I am an alumni of Colfax High School. I attended UW-River Falls.
• Why did you decide to run again for the Colfax Board of Education?
I have served one term on the school board and have decided to run again to continue serving the community. I have learned so many things over the past three years that I feel I am an effective member of the board now. I believe it is important to ask questions so I can fully be educated on the subject at hand. This allows me to make sound decisions during board meetings.
• What do you believe to be the two biggest issues facing the Colfax school district?
Funding. Proper funding is essential to the school district. It is important to balance the tax liability of the district property owners with the needs of the school. We were very proud this past year to be able to lower the Mill Rate to result in lower property taxes for our community. This is an on-going situation that needs to be addressed differently each year. I always believe in being fiscally responsible in the decisions being made by the board.
Pride. I want to ensure that there continues to be a high level of pride in and for our school. I have lived many places and I have always been so proud of where I came from, because of the school. The Colfax School is beautiful, CLEAN, and inviting. I lead by example. I attend and support many activities at the school even when my own children are not involved because I love our school. I maintain a positive attitude about our school while still being open minded to concerns. I prefer to find compromises and common ground instead of frustration and negativity.
• Anything else you would like voters to know?
Thank you so much to the community for allowing me to represent you for the past three years. I have enjoyed the journey and I hope that I can represent you for years to come.
