St. Croix County records 1st traffic fatality of 2023
TOWN OF Cady – The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at about 10:38 p.m. on January 15, 2023, of a vehicle that had crashed on STH 29, near the intersection of USH 128 in Cady Township.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2013 Chevy Impala operated by Timothy S. Boardman, age 55, from Spring Valley, Wis., which was traveling westbound on STH 29, and had left the roadway near USH 128. The vehicle had rolled over, and the driver was ejected and trapped under the vehicle. He was not breathing when emergency services arrived. A passenger in the vehicle, Robert T. Boardman, age 51, from Spring Valley, needed to be extracated from the vehicle. Robert was flown by Life Link medical air transport to Mayo Hospital in Menomonie.
Timothy Boardman was pronounced deceased at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
Timothy Boardman was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Robert Boardman was wearing a seatbelt.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Baldwin, Hammond, Woodville and Spring Valley Fire Departments, Baldwin Medic, Wisconsin State Patrol and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
The incident represents the first traffic fatality recorded by St. Croix County in 2023.
This incident remains under investigation.
