ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound Village Board has approved a budget of $732,201 for 2023, with a property tax levy of $349,861.
The village board held a public hearing on the 2023 budget December 5.
The property tax levy of $349,861 for the 2023 budget compares to last year’s levy of $338,736, representing an increase of $11,125.
The revenue and expense budget of $732,201 for 2023 compares to a budget of $717,701 for 2022, representing an increase of $14,500.
Intergovernmental revenue is listed as $286,845, which compares to the 2022 budget of $315,881, representing a decrease of $29,036.
Licenses and permits in the 2023 budget are $16,149, which compares to $35,649 for 2022, representing a decrease of $19,500.
Fines, forfeitures and penalties are $4,750 in the 2023 budget, compared to $4,000 for 2022, representing an increase of $750.
Public charges for services are $1,200 in the 2023 budget, compared to $650 for 2022, representing an increase of $550.
Intergovernmental charges are $9,600 in the 2023 budget, compared to $10,160 for 2022, representing a decrease of $560.
Miscellaneous revenue is listed as $14,722 for 2023, compared to $12,615 for 2022, representing an increase of $2,107.
Savings and new debt are listed as $49,014 for 2023, compared to zero dollars for 2022.
Expenses
Expenses for the 2023 budget include $265,875 for general government, compared to $293,449 for 2022, representing a decrease of $27,574.
The expense for public safety is $215,484 in the 2023 budget, compared to $186,070 for 2022, representing an increase of $29,414.
The expense for public works transportation is $160,898 for the 2023 budget, compared to $146,235 for 2022, representing an increase of $14,663.
The health and human services budget for 2023 is $1,771, compared to $1,735 for 2022, representing an increase of $36.
Culture and recreation expense is $12,950 for 2023, compared to $14,650 for 2022, representing a decrease of $1,700.
Conservation and development for 2023 is $900, compared to $1,500 for 2022, representing a decrease of $600.
Debt service is $74,323 for 2023, compared to $74,062 for 2022, representing an increase of $261.
