BOYCEVILLE — On a cool and breezy day the Colfax girls and boys traveled to Boyceville to compete in the Larry Zirgibel Invitational Track and Field meet held Thursday, April 28.
With seven teams competing the Viking boys placed second while the girls were third. The top six places earned team points. Scoring points for Colfax were as follows.
In first place were Nate Hydukovich in the 200 and 400 meter sprints and Thomas Drees in the shot put.
Second place finishes went to Ashton Yarrington in the 800 and 1600m runs, Theo Hovde in the 100m dash, Nick Jensen in the discus throw and the 4×400 relay with Ryan Albricht, Yarrington, Hovde and Hydukovich.
Placing third were Alex Swanson in the discus and Jenson in the shot put while Swanson was fourth in the shot put, as was Albricht in the 400m, Luke Blanchard in the 800m and the 4x200m relay with David Lyrek, Ezra Hintzman, Logan Swartz and Asher Pecha.
Hintzman earned a fifth in the pole vault, as did Swartz in the long jump and Drees in the discus, while Hovde was sixth in the 200m dash.
Colfax was once again led by double winners Jeanette Hydukovich in the shot put and discus and Molly Heidorn in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs while Madison Barstad won her first varsity race in the 400 meters.
Kennedy Shane took second in the shot put, Jasmine Best earned a fourth in the 800 and 1600 races while Shane was also fourth in the discus along with the 4x400m relay with Barstad, Best, Jillian Bowe and Heidorn, and Ava Sedivy in the high jump, while Barstad added a fifth place in the 800m run.
Colfax is set to host a pair of meets over the next week including one this Thursday and another next Tuesday, May 10. In between Colfax will compete in Durand this Friday, May 6.
