After the Colfax softball team defeated Elmwood/Plum City in a 6-5 come from behind win April 22, the same two teams faced off three days later in Plum City.
With more runs being scored by both teams, the Vikings prevailed again, this time with an 11-8 victory.
Two days later they pounded the Glenwood City Hilltoppers at home 10-0, bringing their record in Dunn-St. Croix Conference play to 3-2. (A pair of Saturday games scheduled in Chippewa Falls were cancelled due to inclement weather.)
The Vikings are slated to play four games in a five-day span this week. They began with road games in Boyceville and Glenwood City on Monday and Tuesday. They then have a pair at home, hosting Mondovi on Thursday and Pepin/Alma on Friday in a non-conference tilt. Then next Monday and Tuesday they played back-to-back games against Durand – at home on May 9 and in Durand May 10.

Falling behind 2-1 after two innings of play, Colfax erupted for seven runs in the third. Paige Jensen started the rally with a single and was the first Viking to come home in the inning. She was followed by McKenna Shipman, Hannah Peterson, Jada Anderson, Ella Peterson, Mallory Field and Jaida Riley for an 8-2 lead.
After the Wolves added a run in the bottom of the inning, Peterson came around for another run in the top of the fourth.
E/PC pecked away with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth innings to cut the Viking lead to 9-5 but Colfax added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh when Shipman and Peterson came home.
The Wolves had a small rally with three more runs in their final at bat but Colfax pitcher Field and the Viking defense finally ended things.
Ella Peterson led the Viking offense with a 3-for-5 performance knocking in three runs, scoring twice and stealing two bases. Riley was 2-for-3 with a double, had three RBIs and a run scored, Jensen was 2-for-4 and came home once while Anderson had a pair of hits in five at-bats including a triple with three RBIs, two runs scored and a swiped base. Hannah Peterson smacked a two base hit and brought in a run and scored twice.
Field hurled all seven innings for the win, allowing 11 hits with a couple of strikeouts and three free passes. The Vikings committed five errors in the field while the Wolves had six.
Glenwood City
The Hilltoppers are the defending D-SC Conference champs but lost several key players from a year ago.
The Vikings started things with a run in the first with lead-off batter Shipman coming around to score. Four runs in the fourth and five in the sixth put the game away for Colfax as they pounded out 13 hits in the contest.
Meanwhile, Field was on cruise control as she tossed a two hitter with seven strikeouts and just one free pass in the win.
Anderson smacked three hits in four at bats including a triple and brought in two runs while scoring twice, Hannah Peterson finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. Shipman reached base three times, stole two bases and managed to cross home plate all three times. Field helped her own cause with a hit and a pair of RBIs.
