The Colfax Messenger sent out questionnaires to the candidates.
Here are De Moe’s answers.
Why did you decide to run again for a position on the Colfax Board of Education?
I enjoy working with my fellow board members and learning how a school district operates.
What do you believe to be the two biggest issues facing the Colfax school district?
Funding to operate our school and a shortage of teaching candidates.
How would you go about addressing those issues or anything else you would like voters to know?
It seems like every year the budget gets a little tighter. I think by running a small business, I can give a good perspective on budget concerns. Fortunately, we have one of the lowest mill rates in the area and a good school board and administration that gets the most out of every dollar spent. That includes hiring high quality teachers and staff. Right now, the hiring pool is small, so it can be difficult finding quality candidates. We have been lucky to have so many good teachers and staff at Colfax. The administration team does a great job of hiring quality people to fill those positions.
