ELMWOOD — The lack of scoring woes continued for the Colfax boys as they went on the road to face the Elmwood/Plum City Wolves in Elmwood Friday, January 21.
After scoring just 22 points in their previous contest against Elk Mound, the Vikings hoped their shooting eye would return for this game, and although they did increase their score, they fell 64-40 to the Wolves.
The Wolves went up 5-0 and it took six possessions before the Vikings found the hoop when Nate Hydukovich scored on a deuce. But it turned out to be a long, long time before the Vikings would tack on any more points after they turned the ball over without getting a shot off or just getting one shot and missing for the next eight minutes.
The Wolves built a 15-2 lead before Colfax started to put more points up, but they trailed 32-13 at the intermission.
The Wolves lead went to 40-13 before Elijah Entzminger scored in the paint but the Vikings had trouble trying to shut down E/PC post player Luke Webb. Webb stands 6’7 and was leading the Dunn-St. Croix Conference in scoring with a 17-point average, and after Colfax held him to six points in the first half, Webb poured in 14 points for a game high 20 which helped put the game away.
The Viking offense showed some signs of earlier games when Bryce Sikora, Entzminger and Ryan Albricht combined for 20 points with four triples, two by Entzminger but it wasn’t enough to overcome the big deficit.
Entzminger finished with ten points for the Vikings while Sikora and Jack Scharlau both had seven. Colfax made 2-of-6 free throws and four triples in the contest. E/PC went 6-for-12 at the foul line and knocked down six triples.
