Although it has yet to show up in the win column, the Bulldogs’ volleyball team has been demonstrating some bite on the court in recent action.
Even though they lost in straight sets to the Dunn-St. Croix conference top two teams – Colfax and Elk Mound – this past week, Boyceville played several close sets against the Vikings and Mounders.
Hosting Colfax Tuesday, September 28, Boyceville nearly pulled off upsets in the first two matches.
The Vikings needed to work some extra points to finally put away the Bulldogs 26-24 in the opening set.
Boyceville again challenged Colfax in the second set which was close throughout. The Vikings, however, prevailed 25-22.

Colfax wrapped up the match victory with a 25-14 win in set number three.
Boyceville finished with 20 kills in the Colfax match. Hailey Hanestad tallied five, Ella Holden and Libby Bygd each finished with four, and Cambrie Reisimer and Lacota Brown had three each.
Torrie Bland had 11 of the team’s 14 assists while Holden was tops in digs with eight.
The Bulldogs didn’t have much time to rest as they headed to Elk Mound on Thursday, September 30 to face the conference’s other co-leader, Elk Mound.
The Bulldogs once again showed some tenacious play only to come up short, losing to the Mounders in three sets.
Elk Mound won on scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-19.
Libby Bygd lead Boyceville in kills with six and Hannah Dunn topped the charts with 11 digs.
Boyceville, who is currently 0-4 in conference and 2-17 overall, played in Amery Monday night, hosts Elmwood/Plum City Thursday, travels to the Somerset Invite on Saturday, and will welcome rival Glenwood City to town next Tuesday, October 12.
