The girls’ golf cooperative from Colfax and Elk Mound High Schools was back on the links last week following the Labor Day break where the squad picked up a couple of third-place finishes in a pair of CloverCroix meets.
In its first meet of September, Colfax/Elk Mound scored a 227 on the Valley Golf Course in Mondovi last Tuesday, September 7th, and then followed it up two days later by shooting a 224 at Whispering Pines near Cadott in a meet hosted by Stanley-Boyd.
The results were the third time in as many conference matches that Colfax/Elk Mound has placed third.
The locals will have another busy week as they hosted a home conference meet at Whitetail this past Monday and will be at another CloverCroix meet on Thursday that will be hosted by conference front runner Regis/Altoona.
The senior duo of Olivia Clickner and Emma Nechanicky led the Colfax/Elk Mound squad when it played in Mondovi September 7.
Clickner had a team best 52 in the nine-hole meet at The Valley GC while Nechanicky shot a 56.
Rounding out the varsity team scores were sophomore Selena Clickner with a 57 and seniors Brynna Streifel and Ella Reese finished with a 62 and 66, respectively.
Eau Claire Regis/Altoona led by medalist Elli Anderson’s 37, won the meet with a 178. Osseo-Fairchild scored a 201 to take second, Colfax/Elk Mound was third with that 227 and Stanley-Boyd was fourth with a 231. Mondovi had just one golfer.
C/EM shot a 275 to finish second to Regis/Altoona in the junior varsity competition. Individual scores for the locals were: Grace Shafer 66, Emma Bruder 67, Abby Werner 69, LeeDa Yang and Olivia Schindler 73, Josie Seehaver 75, and Anne Baier 76.
In a conference match hosted by Stanley-Boyd at Whispering Pines September 9th, Colfax/Elk Mound golfers were able to shave a couple strokes off their combined scores to finish with a team tally of 224.
Senior Olivia Clickner once again led the locals after shooting a 51 in the nine-hole meet.
Fellow seniors Ella Reese and Emma Nechanicky carded respective scores of 55 and 57 while sophomore Selena Clickner had a 61 and senior Brynna Streifel finished with a 65 to complete the varsity scoring.
The junior varsity also improved on its score at Whispering Pines as it finished with a 272 to take second behind Regis/Altoona once again.
JV scores included: Olivia Schindler 65, LeeDa Yang 66, Grace Shafer 70, Abby Werner 71, Anne Baier 73, and Emma Bruder 79.
Regis/Altoona’s Elli Anderson had the low score once more, shooting a 44 to lead her team to another victory with 181 strokes. O-F was the runner-up again with 210 followed by Colfax/Elk Mound with its 224, and host Stanley-Boyd finished fourth with a 245.
