KANGAROO — A baby kangaroo was one of the animals Safari Bob brought to the Colfax Fairgrounds for the Colfax Public Library’s summer reading program July 28. Sustainable Safari with Safari Bob is out of Maplewood, Minn. He acquired the animal a few days before the program in Colfax. No worries about taking the baby kangaroo from its mother, Safari Bob said, because kangaroo mothers are not that attached to their babies. If a predator is chasing a mother kangaroo and the baby falls out of the pouch, the mother will keep going and leave her baby. All of the animals owned by Sustainable Safari have a home there for the rest of their lives, Safari Bob said. —photo by LeAnn R. Ralph
RED FOX— A red fox was one of the animals Safari Bob brought to the Colfax Fairgrounds for the Colfax Public Library’s summer reading program July 28. Sustainable Safari with Safari Bob is out of Maplewood, Minn. Red foxes are native to the United States but are so adaptable that they can now be found all over the world, he said.
