ELK MOUND – On July 12, local Boy Scout Devin Scheffler secured the Village Board’s permission for his Eagle Scout project to benefit the community. Scheffler would like to paint the back of the visiting team dug out on field two at the village park with the names and team logos for all the baseball teams in the Dunn-St. Croix conference. An unidentified trustee asked Scheffler who would provide all the materials for the project. Trustee Cynthia Abraham pointed out it is usually the candidate for Eagle Scout who provides materials for the projects; Scheffler confirmed this.
A Google search about the requirements for becoming an Eagle Scout yielded the following information, “Eagle Scout Requirements:
Be active in the troop for at least six months as a Life Scout.
Show dedication to Scout Oath and Scout Law 1.
Provide references from family, work, church, and other community groups.
Earn 21 merit badges.
Serve a minimum of six months in a leadership position.
Be active in the troop for at least six months as a Life Scout.
“The first Scout Law is to be trustworthy and keep your promises. The Scout oath is, “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
Scheffler briefly explained his project during the citizens forum, and then sat to wait for the Board’s decision later in the meeting.
After trustees unanimously approved Scheffler’s proposed project, they moved on to the next agenda item: discussion and action on operator license applications, they unanimously approved applications for Abygail Ralston and Taylor Maneval of the Pourhouse, and for Breanna Ashley Mizer and John Thomas Hinschberger of the Elk Mound travel stop.
The last item of business before the Board was selection of a board representative to the Dunn County Economic Development Board. Trustee Terry Stamm nominated Steven Abraham as Elk Mound’s representative to the Board. Abraham accepted the nomination and was unanimously approved as the Village Board’s representative to the Economic Development Board.
The next Elk Mound Village board will be 6 p.m. on July 19.
