A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, May 23 on Interstate 94 near Baldwin has left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries.
A 39-year-old woman from Fairmount, West Virginia was killed when the 2010 Chevy Tahoe that she was a passenger in rolled over near mile marker 16 in the west bound lane of I-94 in St. Croix County. The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old man also from Fairmount, West Virginia is at Regionals Hospital in St. Paul, MN with life-threatening injuries.
The names of the victims have not been released by the Wisconsin State Patrol, pending notification of family.
According to the incident report provided by the State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 5:23 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 on I-94 WB at Mile Post 16 in St. Croix County near Baldwin.
Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers responded to the one-vehicle rollover. Preliminary evidence from the crash scene indicates the vehicle was westbound on Interstate 94 and drifted towards the median. The SUV entered the median and rolled over. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
The driver and passenger were transported to Regions Hospital where the passenger was pronounced deceased.
Neither individual was wearing a seat belt when the crash happened. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol which was assisted by the St. Croix Sheriff’s Office and Baldwin EMS.
