When we ask people, “What is unique about the Pierce County Fairgrounds?” The Round Barn is the most popular answer. With the postponement of the 2020 Fair, we will be celebrating two 100-year accomplishments as it relates to the Pierce County Fair in 2021. It will be 100 years +1 since the Round Barn was built on the fairgrounds and 4-H started 100 years ago in Pierce County. To help celebrate the 101 years of the Round Barn, former windows from the Round Barn are being made available to purchase for a window repurposing contest. Guidelines for the contest are stated below.
• Purchase from the Fair Office a 27”x20” (approximate size) 4 pane window for $25.
• Repurpose window to your desired creation. Be creative! (example: paint on glass, add favorite 4-H or fair pictures, etch the glass, creatively decorate it, repurpose the use of the window, or etc.)
• Must keep original shape, no cutting of window but you can add to it or replace glass or edging if desired or necessary.
• Purchase is limited to one window per contestant.
• Contestant must be an amateur artist.
• Window must be picked up at the Fair Office by calling for an appointment at 715-273-6874.
• Window creation must be able to be displayed vertically, horizontally or lay flat.
• Limited number of windows are available.
• Must be able to bring creation to Home Economics Building on Fairgrounds Wednesday, August 12 between noon and 8 p.m. It will remain on display until Sunday, August 15 until 4:30 p.m.
• When submitting your entry, include a 3”x5” index card indicate your name, city and phone number. Your identity will be withheld until winners have been announced.
• Regular gate fee applies to contestants and voters if entering the Fair during charged Fair admittance hours.
• A “People’s Choice” contest will be held during the Fair on Thursday, August 12 until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Winner will be announced in Home Economics Building no later than Sunday, August 15 by noon. Voting results are final.
• 1st-3rd place winners will be awarded a cash prize of $100, $50, and $25 respectfully.
• Donation of window back to Fair for display within the fairgrounds will be accepted, but not necessary.
• Contest applies only to the 2021 Fair.
• Window creations will be displayed at the entrant’s own risk. The Pierce County Fair will not be responsible for damage to or loss of window creation while on the fairgrounds.
