With about a week left in the regular season, Colfax/Elk Mound’s boys’ golf teams have taken over the third spot in the conference rankings.
After finishing tied for second place with Glenwood City in a home meet at Whitetail Golf Course Monday, May 10 followed by a third-place showing at Glen Hills near Glenwood City two day later, C/EM linksters moved into sole possession of third place in Dunn-St. Croix play.
Colfax/Elk Mound now has a tally of 19 points just a single point ahead of Mondovi while Durand and Glenwood City maintained their spots as the number one and two teams, respectively, with 25 and 26 points.
Colfax/Elk Mound is also finding some individual success as Elk Mound freshmen Zane Brice and Jace Acker moved into second team all-conference contention. Brice is currently ninth in the overall individual rankings with Acker sitting in a three-way tie for tenth.
Players and teams were in Mondovi Monday and Glenwood City will host the final nine-hole conference meet today (Wednesday, May 19). The 18-hole Dunn-St. Croix Tournament is slated for Tuesday, May 25 at Durand’s Rolling Greens Golf Course. Team and individual points are doubled for that final meet.
Whitetail
There is no place quite like home and the Colfax/Elk Mound squad proved that as they finished in a second-place tie with Glenwood City Monday, May 10 in the second and final conference meet of the season at Whitetail.
C/EM and the Hilltoppers both compiled a final score of 205 with Durand, as expected, topping the 5-school field with a 174. Mondovi was a distant fourth with a 222. Spring Valley/Elmwood did not earn a team score or finish again as they have just three varsity golfers.
Jace Acker led his squad at Whitetail May 10 and was the only C/EM golfer to break 50 as he finished with a 44. Fellow freshmen Zane Brice and Riley Krall shot a 50 and 53, respectively. Colfax freshman Christian Ebert carded a 58 and yet another Elk Mound freshman Matt Hanson hit for a 59.

Durand’s Dawson Kurth won his fourth straight individual title with a 41.
The junior varsity had eight members partake in the meet with Chance Peters finishing with the low score of 46. Tristan Lenz had a 54 while Ethan Oas, Ty Meyer, Luke Blanchard, and Chance Smith shot a 58, 59, and a pair of 60s, respectively.
Glen Hills
Last Wednesday at Glen Hills, Colfax/Elk Mound finished one stroke better – 214 to 215 – than Mondovi to move into third place ahead of the Buffaloes.
The locals, however, hold just a slim one-point advantage for the spot.
Zane Brice was the top varsity finisher for Colfax/Elk Mound with a 48, Jace Acker had a 51, Riley Krall tallied a 54, and Chance Peters and Christian Ebert each shot a 61.
Durand has now won all seven conference meets to this point, taking the Glen Hills competition with a season-low score of 165 led by medalist Simon Bauer who carded a 39.
Colfax junior Luke Blanchard topped the JVers with a 48. Matt Hanson had a 56, a 60 was turned in by Ty Meyer, with Ethan Oas carding a 61, and Tristan Lenz finished with a 64.
